Architect's Villa near Budapest in the Danube Bend

Nagymaros is one of the most amazing little towns near Budapest with lots of intellectuals and creative professionals working from here or commuting to Budapest which is 40 min by train. Since the pandemic property prices doubled - everyone wants to live here, and work in Budapest from here. Our villa is probably the most exclusive gem in town. It was built by a renowned architect for his own family in the 1930s, overlooking the Danube and the castle of Visegrád across the river - resulting in world-class panorama and a truly special ambiance, just 5 minutes walk from the city centre. The 120sqm house has a terrace of 100sqm and a garden of 800sqm literally on the villa's own hill (with pear tree, fig tree, sour cherry trees and a small vegetable garden too). Below the garden there is an old wine cellar as well, suitable for a candle-lit wine tasting or a romantic wine dinner. The house was fully renovated in 2019, using the finest materials and restoring most of the original features in order to keep the villa's unique character. As a result the house was also covered in a prestigious interior design magazine in 2020 on eight full pages. The villa consists of
- an extremely spacious living room for big family gatherings with a beautiful view
- three beautiful working chimneys across the house (but we rarely use them as we have a very modern central heating system),
- a nice functional kitchen (with an additional pantry!)
- a beautiful bathroom with a standing bath
- three bedrooms (Master Bedroom with King Size Bed, Kid's Room with Sofa Bed + An 8 sqm Bedroom with a huge family mattress on the floor which is 2,3m x 2m)
- plus a separate guest house (with King Size Bed) with its own shower and toilet

There are 83 rustic stone steps leading up to the villa from the lower gate through the beautiful garden OR one can drive uphill and park her car behind the house to avoid all the steps. (Three cars can fit here.)

The Bend of the Danube is a beautiful place with mountains, great beaches on the Danube river and amazing views. You walk five minutes and you are by the river where you can take a refreshing dip in the summer. There is a long bike trail along the river, perfect for bike tours of every level. You can track in the Borzsony mountains from Nagymaros or the Pilis mountains across the river starting from Visegrad. (A ferry takes you - and your car too - across the river every hour.)
Nagymaros is a sleepy historical town with all the comfort you might need. Good grocery shopping (plus a beautiful farmer's market every Saturday), great cake shop (pastry shop), patisserie, some restaurants and bars on the riverside.
Budapest is 50 minutes drive away or a very convenient train ride of 40 minutes which takes you directly to the city centre. Trains depart twice per hour.
